We learned the sea can be a cruel mistress as we hit high seas late last night. It felt like a scene from Deadliest Catch as waves crashed over the boat. The captain took the Island Expess to shallower waters where we found relief. It has been a very smooth trip since reaching Nasau. [read more]

The Celebrate Jesus of Haiti clinic, operated by Pastor Bill Scheer’s mother and stepfather, as well as a team of 12 doctors from Iowa and Nebraska have treated over 1,000 patients in five days since the earthquake. There has been an increasing influx of refugees from Port Au Prince seeking food, shelter and medical attention.[read more]

We do not expect the mass casualties from building collapses that are seen in the capital. The Jerry and Sonja Dickherber and others were in LaGonave at the time of the earthquake, and are still there.[read more]
